"I would recommend Whitney in a heart beat. She photographed our wedding and not only did our photos turn out amazing but the turn around time was impressive and we loved spending our day with her. She and Dustin are a dream to work with and just amazing people. JUST DO IT" ~ Brianne Hunter

"Whitney was our wedding photographer, and literally one of the best decisions we made during our wedding planning time. She is so helpful and fun! She has everyone laughing and ensures that everyone has so much fun. She also has such a heart of gold! Her talent is also absolutely insane! ~ Alison Castella-Chin

When you walk into the UofA Botanic Garden’s it sort of takes your breath away. The Japanese Gardens are UNREAL. The smell is fresh and rich with the scent of roses, the waterfall and an amazing array of greens. It was peaceful and tranquil and the perfect location for Nikki and Austin’s ceremony.

I had the honour of capturing one of the most epic experiences when Austin surprised Nikki with a proposal winter of 2015. (Check that out HERE). I remember shaking like a leaf standing in the snow and it wasn’t because I was cold. I was SOOO excited and I remember crying along with them when Austin got down on one knee. Now a year and a half later it was so amazing to be here in these gardens preparing for the moment Austin see’s Nikki walk down the aisle.

Nikki prepared for the day at one of the Japanese Garden houses. She was surrounded by her mom and her closest girlfriends. Nikki is currently in Med School in Ireland. She is intelligent, kind and stunning. The love she has for her parents radiated in the moments she shared with them as she got ready and her Dad saw her for the first time.

It as a beautiful bright sunny day as Austin waited with his groomsmen while Nikki and her parents walked down the aisle. They said their personal, hand written vows to each other and before they walked down the aisle as husband and wife, Austin’s grandfather and pastor said a blessing over this couple.

After spending majority of the day at the gardens we traveled back to Austin’s family home where they hosted their friends and family to dinner and a dance. The evening was filled with so many laughs. One of which was the MMA fight Austin had with his Spanish opponent. 😉 Who knew Austin had such a courageous MMA background, lol. (Hola Shannon!)

When the sun was setting we snuck out for the last rays of sunlight from a day filled with so much love and laughter for two people who now set out on a whole new journey in Ireland as husband and wife.

Big shout out to Heather Rattai of Heather Rattai Photography for another amazing wedding together. Thank you friend!!

One of my all time favourite spots is the Saskatoon Farm, this place is the cutest, with the most amazing Saskatoon pie, a U-Pick which is all kinds of quaint & it’s a photographers dream. It also just happens to be the location that Karianne and Jeff chose to host their family and friends for their July wedding.

The day of Karianne and Jeff’s wedding the sun was bright and it was an absolutely beautiful day. It was gorgeous hot which is something we have gotten used to this summer. (I love it!) We arrived to find Karianne getting the final touches on her make up. Karianne is not just gorgeous, but she is a the sweetest, easiest to work with and so organized. Her style is on point and she planned every detail of this wedding herself, although her background is interior design so I knew she’d rock this garden wedding out. She prepped with her sisters, best friend and mom around her.

Jeff prepped the final details on location and opened a gift that Karianne had prepared for him. They chose to have a first look to give more breathing space in the schedule. I absolutely LOVED the way Karianne set up the day. We worked it out to have three times within the day to have photos with Jeff alone. This resulted in SO many portraits without leaving their guests for much time. I also think it’s easier on couples as it’s not an hour in a row but maybe 20-30 min at a time.

Their ceremony was under the lattice with lace and floral accents. Karianne’s Dad walked her down the aisle where she and Jeff exchanged their vows. They hosted their guests in the Red House, in a family style seating arrangement. The tables were filled with flowers and antique vases, little cedar boxes and gold accents.

As the sunset we snuck out one more time for what is my most favourite part of every wedding. I LOVE this time with my couples. The day is almost done, the only thing left is to dance their first dance and then it’s party time. There is this chill vibe, this giddy goofiness in the air and I absolutely love these memories. Karianne and Jeff have been and continued to be SO down to earth, so easy to be with. It feels like I’ve known them for year and I’m sad to think it’s over.

We left that night ensuring we had a Saskatoon tart 😉 as Karianne wouldn’t let us get away without having one. That’s just the kind of person she is.
